Established in 1999 by husband and wife duo Daryl and Mary Harter, Harter Family Dental Care has built a reputation for excellence in dental care for patients of all ages and walks of life.

In 2023, Dr Nathanael Ong took over as owner and principal dentist of the practice. Along with the knowledgeable and friendly team at Harter Family Dental Care, Dr Nathanael Ong strives to continue the same quality patient care and build upon the incredible legacy that Drs Daryl and Mary Harter began.

MEET OUR TEAM

Dr Nathanael Ong
Owner, Principal Dentist

Dr Nathanael Ong grew up in the city but fell in love with the coastal country life somewhere along the way. Upon completing his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of WA, Nathanael decided a change in scenery was required and moved to Esperance to work where he met and married the love of his life.

Nathanael subsequently moved to Geraldton to further his dental practice before deciding to relocate with his young family to Albany in 2023.

Together with the team at Harter Family Dental Care, Nathanael hopes to continue the wonderful dental work that Drs Daryl and Mary Harter began in Albany. He is passionate about bringing quality dental care to families in the country.

Dr Rani Flynn
Dentist

Dr Rani is an experienced dentist who worked in Esperance before moving to Albany. Clearly, there must be something about the southern coast of WA!

She is not a stranger to rural living, being born and raised in Mandurah before moving to Esperance after graduation from the University of Western Australia.

Some interesting things about Dr Rani:

+ Outside of dentistry, she loves hiking, camping and hockey.

+ Keeping with the theme of adventure and activity, Dr Rani also spent a snow season in Japan, learning to snowboard!

+ She also enjoys travelling, having just returned from backpacking around Europe. So get

ready to be entertained by all her adventures on your next visit to the dentist!

Dr Han Nguyen
Dentist

Dr Han, born and raised in Perth, graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2021. She spent a few years working in private practice before moving down to Albany, a place she has happily called home for the past three years.

Han enjoys creating a calming environment for her patients and believes having a solid patient-clinician relationship is one of the most important things in achieving great oral health outcomes. Han likes to keep up-to-date by attending professional development courses in a variety of dental specialties and is looking forward to discussing anything teeth related.

In her spare time, Han likes going to cafes with friends and hanging out with her cat named Veggie Burger. She also loves to travel but says nothing beats the scenic ocean views in Albany!

Dr Harry Gordon Dentist

Dr Harry Gordon graduated top of his class from the University of Dundee, the same dental school attended by Drs Daryl and Mary Harter. He moved to Australia in 2025, fulfilling his long-term ambition to experience the outdoor lifestyle and opportunities the country offers.

Harry believes that high-quality care is built on clear communication and informed patients, ensuring they understand their options and feel involved in decisions about their treatment. He takes a calm and reassuring approach in the dental setting and values building lasting relationships with patients based on trust, communication and patient-centered care.

Harry is passionate about continually developing his clinical skills and enjoys learning beyond routine clinical practice. He has completed a 10-week international short-term course in orthodontics in Aarhus, Denmark, and is currently working towards Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Outside of dentistry, Harry enjoys exploring Western Australia, watching sport, and following his boyhood club, Manchester United.

Pamela Holmes
Dental Therapist, Certified Myo Munchee Practitioner

Pamela Holmes is a passionate dental therapist A 2006 graduate of Curtin University in Western Australia, she has a passion for early intervention dentistry, airway management, and functional prevention for both adults and children.

Pamela’s primary goal is to help her patients maintain their natural teeth for life through education and personalized care.

Throughout her career, Pamela has focused on making dental visits comfortable and stress-free. She believes that dental appointments shouldn't be a source of anxiety, and strives to create lasting impressions by ensuring her patients feel at ease and well-cared for.

Outside of her work, Pamela is a dedicated mother, wife, and proud owner of a 16-year-old fur baby. Her family enjoys an active lifestyle, with a monthly goal of climbing something new and spending as much time outdoors as possible. After spending years working in regional areas across the South West, Pamela has called Albany home for the last four years.

Pamela’s commitment to her patients, combined with her warm and compassionate approach, makes her a trusted and valued member of the community.
